Company History
Our Structural & Medical Roots:
1959: Local community volunteers hand-built the historic facility to serve as a hub for the American Legion and VFW. The original 1959 dedication plaque still proudly stands on the building today.
1960s: Dr. Baker recognized the building's potential and transformed the landmark site into a veterinary hospital, establishing the very first foundation of animal care at this location.
1970s: Dr. Thomas Jessup joined the practice alongside Dr. Baker. Driven by Dr. Jessup’s tireless work ethic and vision, they modernized the space to elevate the care they could provide. This push for higher medical standards and client service grew the business dramatically—solidifying its local reputation before Dr. Baker transitioned into retirement.
The Modern Era of Stability:
1988: Dr. Craig Hempel purchased a 50/50 stake in Mountainview Small Animal Hospital alongside Dr. Jessup. Bringing a natural aptitude for surgery and a relentless drive for advanced medical excellence, Dr. Hempel's contributions instantly expanded upon the hospital's success in patient care, kicking off an era of exceptional partnership and collaborative medicine.
2012: Upon Dr. Jessup's retirement, Dr. Hempel took over as sole owner and continues to work to advance the clinic's medical capabilities. His deep dedication to mentorship is beautifully reflected in the legendary team he has built along the way. This includes our head technician, Kari, whom he helped shape into an exceptional tech over her 35-year tenure, as well as a devoted support staff with 10 to 20 years of service working right by his side.
